Creating your own cosmetics at home for: Dry Skin

Almond and Milk Exfoliator.

Ingredients

  • 100ml Milk (fresh full-fat best).
  • 2tsp Corn flour.
  • 1tbsp ground almonds.
  • 2tbsp deionised or distilled water.

Method

Mix the water and the cornflour into a paste. Pour the milk into the saucepan and heat. When hot add in the cornflour paste and stir until thick. Allow to cool and add in the almonds. Then use clean hands or a cotton pad to work the mixture into the skin with circular motions for a few minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Walnut and Parsley Moisturiser

Ingredients

  • 250ml Walnut oil.
  • 60g Dried parsley (120g fresh).
  • 5tbsp Vegetable Glycerine.
  • Muslin cloth / Ladies tights.

Method

Add the parsley and glycerine into the oil and leave to infuse for 2-3 weeks. Strain the oil through the cloth to remove the herbs and then apply directly to the skin. Should last for at least 6 months (even up to 12months), less if fresh herbs are used.

Green Tea and Rose Cleanser

Ingredients

  • 1 green tea bag
  • 100ml rose water (or a handful of rose petals steeped in 100ml deionised / distilled water overnight)

Method

Gently heat the rose water and green tea in a sauce pan with the water, until simmering. Leave to cool and then apply to skin with a cotton pad to remove dirt and oils. Wait a minute or two and then rinse or wipe off. Should keep for around 6 months (less if rose petals are used).

Ingredients

  • 1 Chamomile Tea Bag.
  • 2tsp dried fennel seeds.
  • 100ml deionized / distilled water.

Method

Gently heat the fennel seeds and tea in a sauce pan with the water, until simmering. Leave to cool and then apply to skin with a cotton pad to remove dirt and oils. Should keep for around 6 months.
